Im Land der Fußball-WM 2010 – Südafrika – sind die Parlotones schon gefeierte Stars. Und auch in Europa haben sie sich längst eine beachtliche Fangemeinde geschaffen. Das aktuelle Album „A World Next Door to Yours“ kam am 26. Juni 2009 in Deutschland raus, während es schon seit 2007 in Südafrika im Handel war. „A World Next Door to Yours“ ist das dritte Album der Band aus Johannesburg und bietet abwechslungsreichen Indie-Rock.
Im Sommer 1998 Lernte der heutige Sänger und Songwriter der Parlotones – Kahn Morbee – den Schlagzeuger Neil Pauw kennen. Wenig später trafen der Gitarrist Paul Hodgson und sein jüngerer Bruder Glenn (Bass, Klavier, Hintergrundgesang) hinzu. Die Parlotones waren geboren. Drei Jahre danach nahm das Quartett John Boyd in die Band auf, der für Synth und Soundeffekte sorgt, obwohl er momentan nicht offiziell zur Besetzung gehört.
2006 unterschrieben sie einen Plattenvertrag, ein Jahr später spielten The Parlotones beim Live-Earth-Konzert in Randburg und das Album „Radiocontrolledrobot“ hatte großen internationalen Erfolg. In den letzten Jahren spielten die Parlotones auf über 280 Shows, unter anderem auch mit Razorlight.
Nun startet die große Deutschlandtournee der Indie-Band. Auftakt war gestern in München.
