Adam Young aka Owl City tauchte im Jahre 2009 völlig unverhofft auf der internationalen Bühne auf. Der aus der US-Provinz stammende Junge hatte in Eigenregie jede Menge Tracks zuhause aufgenommen und durch wachsende Popularität auf seinem MySpace und YouTube-Profil wurde auch die Musikindustrie auf den jungen Mann aufmerksam.
Mit der Single "Fireflies" gelang Owl City damals mehr als nur ein Achtungserfolg, die Single stieg weltweit in die Charts ein und konnte sich jeweils auf guten Positionen festsetzen. Young nennt "Owl City" immer eine Band, obwohl sie eigentlich nur aus ihm alleine besteht. Er schreibt die Songs im Alleingang und nimmt sie auch im Alleingang auf. Allerdings hat er sich für Livekonzerte nun echte Menschen geholt, die ihn als echte Band unterstützen.
Nach dem großen Erfolg der Single "Fireflies" und seinem ersten Album "Ocean Eyes", das 2009 bei einem Major Label erschien, folgt nun die neue Single "Alligator Sky", die nahtlos an die Erfolge von 2009 anknüpfen kann. Der Style und Sound von Owl City sind unverkennbar und so weiß man schon nach den ersten Takten mit wem man es da zu tun hat.
Zu finden ist die neue Single "Alligator Sky" auf dem ebenfalls neuen Album "All Things Bright and Beautiful", das vermutlich ab Juni in den Läden stehen soll. War das alte Album noch komplett im Keller seines Elternhauses entstanden, ist das zweite Werk nun schon deutlich professioneller angegangen worden. Trotzdem müssen sich Fans keine Sorgen machen, dass Owl City nun seinen unbekümmerten Popsound verloren hat. Er klingt noch genauso und eigentlich hätte er also auch im Keller bleiben können, oder?

Owl City könnten qualitativ nachlassen, in Luft auf: der Song ist ein lockeres, unbekümmertes und ebenso hitverdächtiges Pop-Juwel wie "Fireflies".
