Es ist endlich so weit: 3 Jahre nach ihrem letzten Album "I Am…Sasha Fierce", auf dem Beyoncé erstmals auch einen Einblick hinter die Kulissen eines weltweit erfolgreichen Popstars gab, landet in wenigen Wochen das neue, vierte Album "4" in den Läden. Aufgenommen wurde das neue Album in knapp einem Jahr…
…nämlich im Zeitraum zwischen Frühjahr 2010 und Frühjahr 2011, als sich die 29-jährige weitestgehend aus dem Scheinwerferlicht der Weltöffentlichkeit zurückzog, um sich ganz auf die Musik zu konzentrieren. In dieser Phase widmete sie sich (nach eigenen Angaben) vorzugsweise den einfachen Dingen des Lebens, verbrachte u.a. ausgiebig Zeit damit, jede Art von Musik zu hören, die ihr gefällt. Der hochinteressante Mix, der sich daraus ergab, ist nun auf dem neuen Longplayer zu hören.
Der Albumtitel ist natürlich auf die Anzahl ihrer Soloplatten zurückzuführen, ist zudem aber auch eine Hommage an ihren Geburtstag am 4. September.
Als erste Single erschien der Song "Run The World (Girls)", dessen Video auch schon zu sehen ist. Darin: Beyoncé so heiß wie nie, als Anführerin einer Frauen-Armee. Gedreht wurde in der Mojave Wüste unter Leitung von Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Wasser für die Elefanten u.a.), mitgewirkt haben mehr als 200 Tänzer/innen und eine Reihe exotischer Tiere mit.
